2007 has been a great year so far for Alastair Usher: darling of the blogosphere, remixer to the likes of Kelis, Camille and Amy Winehouse (check his ace remix of 'Tears Dry On Their Own' forthcoming on Island Records) and Partial Artiste on Cologne’s legendary Kompakt records. Plus later in the year Prins Thomas’ new label Internasjonal will re-release the rare-as-hens-teeth DJ Harvey fave 'Lullaby For Robert' from Al’s 2003 Slipshod EP with a new mix from Chateau Flight.

Al makes records which somehow appeal to the head and the heart, the brain and the backside all at once. They sound great loud in a club or in your front room, and most of you are aware just how tricky that is.

'Gnanfou' is his first solo artist release since 'Slipshod'. The title track is new school electronic boogie of the highest calibre; it starts subtle and craftily builds and builds into a hypnotic and trippy finale. our friends in the north, Swag, toughen things up just a little for the housier dancefloors. and last but not least comes balearic gem 'Here Today'; if Sub Sub had soundtracked a John Ford western it might sound something like this.
